The CIA, Thailand & Corrupt Uses of Anthropology

PPT posted a comment by a U.S. operative on the manner in which the Americans helped re-make the monarchy in the teeth of the Cold War. We still haven’t been through all the more than 900 pages of reminiscences that download in one document, and there’s a lot of interesting material.

We felt the following might interest some of our readers, especially given the links between the royal family and the Border Patrol Police, “hill tribes” and many of the other people and interests listed in the account.

These comments are from James L. Woods, who was with the Research Analysis Division, Department of Defense in Bangkok from 1964 to 1967 and then was Advisor, ARPA [Advanced Research Projects Agency] Unit, Bangkok in 1969-1973. with annotations and bold by PPT:

…[I]n the fall of ‘64 I was in Thailand, probably working on a Long-range Assistance Strategy, and found an old management intern friend out there, Lee Huff, running a little office for the Advanced Research Projects Agency, and we got together. He said, “I’ve just been called. They told me I’m going to be posted back to Washington rather abruptly. We’re looking for a replacement. Would you be interested?” I said, “What are you doing?” He explained that this was a special project – Project AGILE – under the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency…. In Thailand it was still operating out of a hotel downtown and at the SEATO Graduate School of Engineering on the Chulalongkorn University campus, with a very small staff under Marine Colonel Tom Brundage…. Lee was running the social-behavioral science research program and asked if I would be interested….

…[W]e worked closely with them [the CIA] in the field, because they were operating out of AID/USOM, running the Border Patrol Police program, and also they were very interested in general in the issues of internal security and they had their advisors in many of the same agencies that we had ours…. We also did some work for something called CSOC, which was a Thai organization, the Communist Suppression Operations Command, run by General Saiyud Kerdphon, and there were a number of CIA advisors over there operating for the most part out of the embassy. We were all part of the country team and the ARPA field unit in Thailand was a U.S. component of that…. The U.S. approach was that this was a counterinsurgency-oriented program. Thailand was the laboratory for the soft side and Vietnam was the laboratory for the hard side or things that go boom. So in Vietnam – I would go over there from time to time, and they would come over to Thailand from time to time to escape Vietnam mainly – they were doing a lot of systems work – village information system, hamlet evaluation system, territorial forces evaluation system. They were doing stuff trying to evaluate how was the war going, for MACV. They were also doing ordnance testing; the Armalite rifle which developed into the AR-15, which developed into the M16…. On our side we were doing studies and analyses and systems research and a good bit of electronic research including remote sensing, trail sensors, testing different kinds of mobility equipment and communications equipment…. Our office – the Research and Analysis Division – was in charge of social and behavioral and systems research, and we worked for the most part through contractors. We brought in rather sizable teams from RAND, RAC – Research Analysis Corporation … – Stanford Research Institute, Cornell Aerolab, BMI, AIR – you name it, we had it – and a lot of individual scholars on contract.

We built some systems and libraries, which were turned over to the Thai, which hopefully they have found useful –for example, the Thailand Information Center with a gazillion documents. Everything useful that had ever been written about Thailand that we could find in the scholarly community was in there. We turned that over to a Thai university actually. Our hill tribes data base, we turned that over to another Thai institution, the Tribal Research Center, in Chiang Mai. The Village Information System, we turned over to a Thai ministry, although it was still very much in an embryonic state…. … [T]hey have Border Patrol Police, which was very much a U.S.-funded program, a lot of it. The CIA provided a lot of the equipment and guidance and so on, but the Thais have kept it up….

After going back to the U.S. and completing a course at Cornell University, with the doyens of Southeast Asian Studies there – George McT. Kahin is mentioned – Woods returned to Thailand:

I went back to the ARPA field unit, or research center, but I was posted immediately to Chiang Mai University in the north for a year as advisor to the dean, which sounds odd but we knew the dean from his previous position in Bangkok and he was trying to establish an expanded research program on northern Thailand, especially the tribal minorities problem. There was a Tribal Research Center, which the Thai government was attempting to operate, co-located at the university, and so my job was trying to build a tribal research program in the north working out of the university….

Much of their [RTG] information came from the Thai Border Patrol Police who were posted to the outermost fringes of the kingdom and were basically a CIA project or at least were getting support and training through the CIA part of USOM…. We were also sponsoring basic ethnographies by a number of anthropologists, European and American, at the time, again trying to collect in-depth ethnographic understanding of several selected lesser known tribal groups. So that’s how I spent a rather odd year as the advisor to the dean of the faculty of social sciences at Chiang Mai University….

This, of course, eventually came to the attention of the American Anthropological Association and some others and got them greatly excited. It’s cited in a book which was published some years later calledAnthropology Goes to War featuring me as one of the devils they identify as corrupting the practice of anthropology…

Before the war went bad and became greatly unpopular, we had the leading American anthropologists on Southeast Asia on the consultant payroll and they were hard at work, and some of them stayed at work. Dr. Gerry Hickey – an expert on the Montagnards of Vietnam – worked with us throughout the war….

… We had Dr. Ladd Thomas, Northern Illinois University. Now, Ladd, I recall, was a political scientist, and he reported that students invaded his office and threw his furniture and books out the window….  The same thing was going on all over. We had a couple of very senior professors out in California, David Wilson, political scientist, and Herb Phillips, anthropologist, and they had been cutting-edge scholars on Thailand.Herb capitulated. David basically got up on his feet and told all his student and faculty critics to go to hell; they could think what they wanted but they weren’t going to interfere with his right to speak out. But Herb went over; Herb gave up.

Project Camelot is also mentioned. On the impact of this work, Woods says: “So I would say to the extent there was an impact, it was over on the counterinsurgency side where the CIA was very much involved as well and USOM with the USAID development programs…”.

Eleven consecutive New Years and Christmases with the Thatchers and a mentor relationship with Prince Charles as well as a mediator role within the Royal Household are concrete proof that MI5 knew everything the BBC management gossiped about for decades and a whole lot more.

Jimmy Savile was not blackmailed by MI5 Per se. He collaborated with them and the Royal household and Downing Street by trading the information he was intimate with, of the power elite's predatory sexual abuse of young children in exchange for a life of affluence and security. 

He loved it.

We've all probably experienced when somebody has shared information that is fatally damaging to someone else's reputation, and if we're honest we usually know the person sharing this kind of information has dark secrets of their own we would rather not learn.

That is how Sir James Savile moved with such extraordinary ease in MI5, MI6, Royal and Downing Street circles.

I guess you want to know why Savile eventually fell out with Prince Philip? 

The best answer is not to ask yourself what upset Philip. Ask yourself what upset Jimmy....What could Prince Philip have possible shared with Sir Jimmy that even Jimmy could barely stomach it?

Growing up in British Armed Forces Germany I could never understand the love of 'Auntie' as the BBC is called by the children in my schooling days when my family returned to the UK. Now I realise that they were programmed to love the British Broadcasting Corporation or the Beeb as some referred to it.

Young Christopher Hitchens

Nobody has been more critical of the late Christopher Hitchens post 9/11 about-turn and support of the Zionist and Neconservative war for Pentagon-profits than I. However the young Hitchens was sharp as a razor, erudite, pleasant on the eye, wonderful on the ear and not without the kind of humour that has to be suppressed or it laughs at the volume of ridiculous things it is compelled to listen to; particularly on TV phone in programmes. I regret that the late C.H. felt more upset about God killing the Malachites than the Pentagon killing a million Iraqis [plus plus] but there's hours and hours of rewarding listening and particularly his interviews with the great Brian Lamb of C-SPAN. Just brilliant.

It's such a pity that C.H. couldn't entertain the notion that 9/11 was not the conspiracy theory that a man in a cave brought down the United States but then many intelligent people are incapable of having that rational discussion. Mostly professional journalists and writers I might add.

As a final compliment I might add that Hitchen's war on religion is the greatest work of his later life and there really is no need to listen to the Jews, Christians and Muslims talking such rot. Just skip to Hitch laying it out nice and neat. The way I like it.

My final word is be careful of this man when it comes to his reckless advide on Russia. His ego prevents him recognising that Vladmir Putin is a stablizing force for peace and freedom in the world unlike the CFR, Trilateral Commission and Bilderberg groups that Zbig likes to hang out with.

Why I like To Admit I Got It Wrong

I used to think Editor of Veterans Today, Gordon Duff and whistleblower Stewart Webb were both disinformation agents but after listening to this marathon interview I was hasty. I still feel they both get information passed to them that represents the interests of groups uninterested in the progress of humanity but I didn't detect any malice in either of them from this interview. Spy Vs Spy - Shall We Play A Game #QAnon

When General Petraeus moved from DoD to CIA and Leon Panetta moved from DoD to CIA I sensed a broader strategic aim than the individual job functions. I gave it some thought and came away with a hypothesis that mocked the corporate media's radio silence on the subject.

It occurred to me given the depth of depravity the CIA engages in (e.g. JFK assassination, drug trafficking, Beta Sex Slaves and Mind Control of paedophile victims as well as filming and blackmailing power elite politicians in the US Senate) and the warmongering iniquity of the Pentagon that the way to neutralize both of them is to get them to be at war with each other.

My analysis concluded that QAnon had pulled off a highly creative if not genius move of "castling" the Defence and Spying institution leadership. In this way you'd have CIA and DIA less easy to distinguish. It is my suggestion that this is the best way to create inter department conflict which is a good basis for slimming down both organizations i.e. do what the CIA has done to a hundred countries around the world; divide and rule them with competition from Defence Intelligence. 

My last thought on this matter or rather extending the thinking further is to merge the two entities of CIA & Defence, and then let them slug it out for who gets to keep their jobs. You do this by encouraging civil war within the new entity though to a lesser extent in Defence and Defence Intelligence for historical and hardware reasons. In this manner we get everybody ratting on everybody, but only the best survive with Obama in charge figuring out which factions are necessary to succeed. The result at the end is a slimmer intelligence and warmongering agenda betweƒen both DoD and CIA.  Or to put it simply only one army drone bombing their allies Pakistan and Yemen and thus easier to control.

Naturally this process means there will be less involvement in drugs and a general clean up of the pus that is the American (and British if they are smart enough to take my advice) spying business.

One must be familiar with the CIA's influence over the New York Times and the DIA & ONI's preference for controlling the Washington Post to reach the conclusion I have, but I can provide additional links if requested privately.

A lot is going on in front of our very eyes if we just discard what the corporate media are saying. Their inability to see what 9/11 is all about is beyond fiction.

The blood issue is real important because in all the Abrahamic texts of the mind controlled fanatics of religion who put the lithographic printed press word of God before humanity, it is blood that the father, God, Yahweh, Allah figure seems to have an obsession with and so I invite you to do your research and listen to the Italian biblical scholar who has come to conclude that the psycho murdering God of all these wicked and manipulative texts across the Abrahamic faiths is an off planet being with special powers. 

By all means worship an Extra Terrestrial God with mind control powers, but slaughtering humans in E.T.'s name is the mark of an unevolved mind. 

It's the sure sign of a God or Yahweh or Allah that is the product of a mind half a chromosome away from a monkey and I don't care how poetical that is written in blood.

I may in the final analysis have made a mistake in my conclusion after 30 years of research and questioning my own premises, but unlike 'believers', I have frequently changed my mind when it is presented with new information. This is far more challenging than believing in something and never having to think again. 

My pandeism view of creation is one that fits very comfortably with all areas of my investigative journey including quantum physics, cosmogony, archaeology, history, theology, philosophy and bonkers strange stuff you probably don't want to touch but it is not mind controlled and certain it has an answer that is open to development and improvement. 

It is certain that the monotheistic God of the Abrahamic faiths is an arch manipulator that stops people from covering the ground I have.

I shall definitely be reading Christopher Bollyn's - Solving 9/11 after Dr. Kevin Barret of the University of Wisconin's solid performance on Press TV. I rarely do new information on 9/11 but if an academic says it's an excellent book that's my kind of recommendation.

John Taylor Gatto says exactly the same thing as Gore Vidal here. The power elite are all trained at a clutch of very exclusive schools to manage the rest of society. What's interesting or rather more illuminating is Vidal admitting that even within the power elite there's the wealthy and the super wealthy. He also raises the point that George Carlin used in his comedy routines, which is that there is often no conspiracy for this super wealthy power-elite group in many many instances. They don't need to conspire because it goes without saying what is good for their exclusive group and if that means bloodshed for us in foreign lands or austerity at home then so be it.

Gore Vidal At The Smithsonian

I've been going through Gore Vidal's talks on Youtube because he's so erudite and has a long historical view of issues rather than the snappy soundbite. I like him immensely and even more because he confirms in this talk the influence of Bohemian Grove for the global power elite and for a few other issues that once were filed under conspiracy theory but which are now increasingly understood as reality that is desperately being covered up by the people who own 80-90% of everything most folk interact with. 

Everything from food to attention spans. Think about that.

Israel's King David - Historically Unreliable & Archaeologically Threadbare

This is superb documentary making and turns Israel's claims of a Kingdom of David to dust. This of course means the claims on Jerusalem are far less grounded in reality than the Northern King of Omri, and that Judah and Israel were never united under King David.

Israel's existing claims to the land through archaeology are backfiring against them increasingly harshly, and any evidential based researcher can reach no other conclusion. 

Francesca Stavrakopoulou is an extraordinary scholar and presenter blessed with a freshness and clarity that bursts off the screen. She really brings the topic to life in an engaging and neutral manner.

Maybe Israel needs to rebrand and focus on it's roots in Omri and leave Jerusalem to the other Abrahamic faiths to work out why they are being manipulated into conflict over issues that are non-human?

I might also add that if the BBC stuck to producing world class content like this instead of telling lies and concealing the truth in their daily news theatre which goes against the scholarly findings of academia and scientific archaeology such as the example above I would support their licence fee. 

Unfortunately content like this gets one airing and the news is day in and day out repetition of warmongering, as you can see how Syria is being framed with Iran next while the BBC sucks up to Saudi Arabia, Washington D.C., Tel Aviv and of course Westminster.

Psychopath Gods Are Paternal & Monotheistic

We haven't got the hard evidence we need to prove the influences are off planet, but we do know that more than one God realised that the best way to manipulate humanity is to take the middle East (as opposed to the literate societies of say China at the time), strip away the female deities (God was normally associated with fertility, nature and birth) and then fillet all other Gods out of the Equation. The Jews were the first to do this (or to be manipulated into doing this) by the psychopath we call Yahweh and who has suspiciously off planet powers. 

Either way monotheism is the worst thing that ever happened to humanity. We used to tolerate hundreds if not thousands of Gods. Now it's toe to toe between Islam and Judaism with the real psychopath referee of Christianity playing the good guy. It's a guy of course. Paternalism is essential to cutting off your opponents genitals and then their heads as religion loves to do.

Francesca Stavrakopolou presents this series that I've just discovered and I'm quite sure she is very familiar with Marija Gimbutas who I've blogged about before but I just wonder if she's up to speed on with bible scholar Mario Biglino's interpretation of the sacred texts as off planet manipulation including very specific references to life in space. 

The Gods came down from heaven to Earth. Well that's what off planet beings do right?
