Gandhi's First Protest - Lessons & Inspiration For The Occupy Movement

After qualifying as a Barrister in London Gandhi made his way on invitation to British Empire ruled South Africa where he was thrown off the railways for travelling first class. Diagnosing his identity papers as the technical source of the problem he makes his first protest by publicly burning his papers. It was his first act of dissent and typified his non violent approach. Gandhi is an incredible movie for people to watch as the storm clouds gather around the world pitching the forces of darkness and wage slave obedience against humanity. This struggle that has been going on a lot longer and with considerable more deliberation than most people who seek distraction from their entertainment and information stream could possibly begin to handle in one go.

Reality will knock on their door if they persist in ignoring the distortion of the systems currently in place to dehumanise people. They are unstable and face impending collapse.

Cops Beating Cal Students

I've noticed that the Youtube video count doesn't reflect the real number of views with videos that are important. One can tell by the number of comments cueing as one writes a comment pointing towards the volume of viewers, and also by reloading the video and seeing the number is static. The game is rigged folks.

Gandhi, The Occupy Movement & The Amritsar Massacre

I've been wanting to watch Richard Attenborough's movie Gandhi again for a couple of decades. The recent Occupy movement has really impressed me by not responding to police violence. I really don't know if I could control my temper if I was attacked by a cop and obviously it would be me that would suffer in the long run so it's probably a good thing that I'm putting effort into other areas like writing and social media.

If you haven't mentioned it yet in social media ask yourself why.

I'm posting the scene above because it's the definitive evil-of-empire massacre part of the story. The film goes on to outline how the Muslims and Hindus killed each other before and during partition of India and Pakistan though it doesn't mention that the British set up much of this conflict as a leaving gift. More than even Gandhi ever new.

The film is excellent and so long I was caught by surprise because it's one of the few films to have a five minute intermission half way through and so I took a screen grab of it. There's a lot I could write about this movie and I took inspiration from Gandhi again and again from it. I will probably write about different parts at a later time. In the mean time I urge anyone with Occupy on the mind to watch the entire movie (I think it's all on Youtube in parts) and take time to consider what non violence really means.

Without a question Gandhi's way is even more relevant today than ever. I urge people to watch it and learn a thing or two about changing the world. A truly remarkable man and unlike any other we experienced in the last century. Is it only me that wants our leaders in loin cloths?

Update: The entire movie is below.

Excellent Channel 4 Documentary On Syria

I'm a big critic of mainstream media and so it's only right when terrific undercover reporting is done as Ramita Navai does for Channel 4's Unreported World.

Death Of A Corporate Coup D'Etat.

If you watch one thoughtful five minute interview on Occupy Wall Street #OWS it's this one.

Pay attention to a man who remembers the people of Berlin saying the Berlin Wall might take another year to fall some hours before it actually did.

Citbank Arrests #OWS Customers For Closing Accounts

Barely days after Citibank CEO Vikram Pandit talked about his sympathies with Occupy Wall Street and his willingness to engage with protesters, a Citibank in New York locked the doors of their branch and arrested a group of Citibank account holders who wished to to close their accounts. It's clear that Citibank are terrified that a few accounts closing will lead to a run on their bank. It would only take a small percentage of account holders to prove that Citibank is an economic hologram and like much of the financial sector, including the privately owned Federal Reserve, is desperately hiding how weak it is. The 99% are waking up and realise they've been duped, fleeced, conned and bullied for far too long.

Vikram Pandit, like all corporate psychopaths is clinically devoid of human empathy and necessarily has a relentless ability to justify corporate greed, as exemplified by his salary stock options and bonuses. There will be no Citibank/Vikram Pandit full apology and there will be no hint of confused embarrassment at the corporate or individuals inability to reconcile arresting law abiding customers on premises with wishing to engage the occupy movement just a few days before.

It's a PR disaster of Greek tragedy proportions and the kind of paranoid reflexive action we're learning to expect, much like the NYPD macing defenceless women that unveils how scared the machine is of the 99% and how close the matrix is to collapsing.

Police Officer (Supervisor) Anthony V. Bologna NYPD

#occupywallstreet Please call Mayor Bloomberg: 212-772-1081 ext. 12006 and ask if Supervisor Anthony V. Bologna NYPD of Staten Island will face charges for calmly walking up to the two women pictured above and macing them in the face under zero provocation. Don't accept him being taken off duty as that will allow them to kick the ball into the long grass which is how the police deal with these matters.

I Thought The English Love Animals (Why Blame The Rioters)

Stefan Molyneux breaks down the primary social dynamics that breed human animals which for  reasons still unclear, the Soy Latte and Pret a Manger classes only learned of their existence a week ago. The emergence of a feral, violent, angry and nihilist underclass they've been living with has taken the pampered classes by surprise.

It takes a considerable amount of self centred concentration to edit that kind of reality out.

We've been saying for a decade or so that the Chavs are being bred for a good enlisted war which as we're on the subject, and as Stefan points out, the violence of the riots are pantomine compared to the violence that the UK prosecutes abroad in war after war for  a hypnotized style of life.

I don't like these people who rampaged but everything is connected and ignoring eternal truths leads to suffering.

I'm Mad As Hell And I'm Not Going To Take This Anymore

Photobucket

Not a single word from this 1976 classic movie is out of step with the rioting going on in the UK. Network is a movie that every person should be obliged to watch and consider the eternal human truths that over ride the knee jerk reactions of some people like the comment I heard about getting Syrian on rioters. Really? What's the difference between you and them?

England's Burning

Photobucket

I notice the Police are monitoring twitter for people sending tweets that encourage looting. Civil unrest will play into the hands of those who want more CCTV and top down control but if the police don't make the connection with Banker bonuses that encouraged the largest transfer of wealth in history they are wasting their time condemning the actions of the disaffected youth of the UK.

Meanwhile the Queen sits in luxury doing little more than skimming off the backs a country.

Happy Civil War

There's a bunch of minor details that Robert D Steele and I may disagree on but in general he's bang on the money. Another feature of this video to those of you who are dissatisfied with your blogging is that Robert gives a number of tips that have worked for me in the past. The benefit of following the tips Robert gives is you may find yourself developing a more authentic voice as a blogger and commensurate with that, a more robust following.

Police State

I wasn't aware of the acuteness of London's Student Loans battles until listening to the chants of 'off with their heads' to Prince Charles over the World Service and finally till I came across these incredible pictures which Boston.com is revolutionizing photo journalism with.

I've a couple of comments to make. First I think Marbury (who led me to the photography) underestimates much of what this is all about by attributing a narrow and unimaginative causal relationship to events, but as I like his blog, and there was that whole misunderstanding about the Ellesberg Papers I don't really want to pursue it too hard right now other than to mention my recent 1968 Awesomeness post and to point out the supportive and vocal sympathies of many people who really don't seem to have that much of a view on Student or Educational loans. But his blog is still one of the few political blogs I read for its careful analysis of restrained transatlantic political commentary as the volume from traditional media blowhards in this area is irritating and unhelpful.

Lastly I think it's worth noting that similar civil unrest in Bangkok also caught by the Boston.Com photographers led to Royal Thai Army Snipers picking off white flag wavers and medical staff in the grounds of the most centrally located Buddhist Temple here in Bangkok earlier this year though one has to live in Asia to really understand that life is tragically just so much cheaper. You may find that insensitive but I assure you I'm far from callous and I'm definitely pointing a rice fed finger towards an asymmetric life valuation hierarchy that Orientals know full well is skewed by Occidental standards of living. Worth bearing in mind if sympathy is ever sought, particularly as many of the arrested are still being held and tortured in jail to this day by Royal Thai Army loyalist troops.
