Just Checking

I have a unique perspective on privacy because I made a decision about it long before I had any choice in the matter. Subsequently, that decision was made for me without my consent.

I demand the same level of transparency from publicly elected officials and institutions because, pragmatically speaking, there is no privacy in the public domain. While this is generally a good thing, I still exercise discretion in deciding who gets the full story and who only gets part of it.

It may be worth exploring how radical transparency is rewarded by Universe, or seek further clarification over here.

Toxic Prurience

Freer & Blue in Cambodia

It's been a few years now so I don't mind publishing these private emails as the lesson still applies today for those with ears to hear, and eyes to see.

My good friend Peter Doran in Bangkok was a self-made multi-millionaire. He was striking to look at, tough as hell and stricken with the most aggressive bouts of violent depression.

He was a dangerous man to be around, but he was also one of the most generous, funny and clever people I ever met. I considered him to be an older brother, but from time to time it came at great expense.

I recall once he was pissed off with his brother Johnnie who had left for New York and decided to stitch him up by finding out some hotel details of a client/friend who was staying at The Conrad in Bangkok. Earlier that day he had tried to overdose and I was starting my new job as Planning Director at Dentsu Bangkok. It was literally my first day and so I could only help by calling another friend (Frank Duvi) to go check up on Pete or Blue as we called him.

As there was no answer from his bedroom, I instructed Frank to break down the door, a job he was capable of as a former French foreign legionnaire and Muay Thai boxer.

Anyway, after work, I headed over to Blue's and that's when he decided to take me for a drink down The Conrad in the Diplomat bar, a place I frequented regularly, he pulled out a scrap of paper with the room number of his brother's friend, and proceeded to order a 1500 pounds sterling bottle of champagne on that rooms tab.

I was frozen with fear, as it was clear Blue was in a mess from his earlier suicide attempt, and he didn't look particularly credible with a scrap of paper reading the room number out to the barwoman. Anyway, she took the order and delivered the champagne in an ice bucket wrapped in immaculate white napkins. We drank it and then we left to head over to Patpong GoGo bars. I only breathed a sigh of relief when we got in the cab. My next visit to that bar was very uncomfortable, as the kindly barwoman recognised me, but didn't say anything. It was not my order but I was complicit.

In any case the reason I am bringing up Blue is that he had access to a mutual friend's email account and he had made a habit of reading all his private emails on a regular basis for a couple of years. That is until, as you can see above, he forwarded me an email one day, thinking I'd understand it was not him but being forwarded, but instead I blew his cover by responding to our mutual friend as if the email was meant for me.

Blue was very angry with me, our friend Tim Ramos the owner of the email account who was a multi-millionaire sex-addict retiree from Hawaii was mad at me, thinking I'd colluded with Blue although I had done nothing but respond to that forwarded email which was quite insulting and so my reply was caustic, to say the least.

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to share that when the dust had settled, Blue admitted that having access to Tim's email had been corrosive and had fed an obsession that had become toxic to him in the end, as any addicted snooper and peeping tom will reveal when asking how and why their prurience had affected them.

I live a fairly open life and try not to have any secrets, because I know that it's your secrets that kill you in the end.

I eat, shit, fuck, smoke, fart and wank like the old bachelor I am who prefers not to copulate with ladies just for the sex, as I feel it's damaging to be in a fake relationship, (although I'm always on the lookout for someone special). Lady luck is always a possibility.

I have found that those who obsess over me, are always the same, and have recurring observable traits.

Insanely jealous, insecure and inveterate liars who have no grasp that some of us don't lie for convenience.

Snoopers are the meconium of the universe, and that applies to Pete's email 'hacking' and to anyone else who lives vicariously.

Get a life.

Mine is already taken.

Citizen Four

I recommend the Oscar Winning documentary Citizen Four. It's better on a cinema screen but if you don't have access to that watch the online documentary above. It's extraordinary how much I had forgotten about the revelations of the NSA/GCHQ spying episode.

There are still question marks about some of the protagonists but all in all I think the players are authentic if not a little blind on some of the key issues of big secrets.

NSA Wants To Reach Down And Touch Your Private Parts

The fake left make every excuse for Obama even though he promised to make transparency and the rule of law his Presidential signature. He encouraged and promised to protect whistleblowers but the fake left are completely unconcerned that his term in office has been far more harsh than his predecessor George Bush.

This New York Times video of NSA whistleblower William Binney is an excellent short introduction into the drift towards Nazism by the American security State. The NSA and all the other greasy snouts in the pork barrel security spending trough can never have enough of our money to justify their pensions and increasing brutality and intrusions of privacy.

You should watch this excellent piece.

Why Is The U.S. Population Mute On Its Military

I imagine there are lots of reasons why. Ignorance and brain washing have to be a huge reason. Misunderstood patriotism could be one too but the reason I find of most concern is intimidation  The most spied upon people on the planet are the people of the U.S. and I worry their silence is fear. Maybe a once resilient and outspoken people no longer have the stomach to speak up and stand tall?

Maybe Glen Greenwald's analysis is correct. American's surveillance state is breeding fear and conformity.

NSA & TSA Want To Reach Down & Touch Your Private Parts

I'm constantly amazed by the freaks and perverts they hire who are willing to probe that little bit further than the last guy. As ever Russia Today are blazing the way on solid information about technical subjects.

The Arab Awakening - Tweets From Tahrir

An excellent timeline documentary punctuated with Twitter activity. Watching this makes it self evident that of course the global security apparatus complex (Govcorp) are in full-on panic mode and shit-scared of humanity. We're the reason governments funnel endless money (our taxes) into snooping agencies and paramilitary police forces (and intelligence agencies) to keep this twisted consensus-unreality in place including the fake left/right political divide, support for victim perpetrator religions, jingoistic predator flag-waving wars, planetary rape, big oil free-energy technology suppression and the list goes on and on and on.

I wrote this back in May of 2008 and later on this at the end of 2008 before the Arab spring had started. I no longer write everything I sense because it's getting to that time where big cards are going to be played, changes in old realities are looming on the horizon. The more people focus on materialism and hamster-wheel salary collection punctuated by light entertainment TV, the less they're going to be able to handle the new reality being collectively assembled and judging by the swelling on the belly about to birthed.

The choice is entirely yours.

The visual below is Egyptian graffiti of the one eye, bandaged to signify the 70 or so people that lost an eye in Tahrir square protesting the US sponsored Egyptian army and police state. The security snoop agencies and paramilitary police forces, and armies and intelligence agencies should take note of the protester in the video above getting beaten at the end with one eye bandaged and prepared to lose his sight.

We're humans. Push us too far and we have nothing to lose. You'll never see that.

We know what your eye at the top of your pyramids stand for. Those days of hierarchical all-seeing-power you flaunt so gratuitously and the top down control you enforce so mercilessly are coming to an end. Like Anonymous and Stratfor we'll know find out who was getting paid to keep us down with by stamping boots on our heads, snooping our privacy, or joysticking for drone wars abroad. The Apocalypse means the great unveiling and we're living in daily Revelations. When the light switch is thrown on and the cockroaches scuttle for darkness. Be very careful of the people who know when it's time to stamp on a bug before the chance has gone forever.

The Apple SpyPhone

In an aged of increasingly aggressive policing, phantom terror alerts, media manipulation of Islam threats and ever closer security pat downs and random electronic scanning by the police I find it troubling that a log file has been discovered on the iPhone that isn't removable. Put simply there's no way to disable the logging of all your moves. Why would Apple do that? That's thinking very differently from how normal people think of each other. You've been warned.
