Terence McKenna - The Invisible Landscape

All four and a quarter hours of the Bard. It's been a great reward to me knowing that I've spread the word at least a  little successfully on Terence McKenna as he's a gateway drug to rethinking the world. We've needed every single rethinker and so have they.

The Art of Seeing - Alduous Huxley

Violence shouldn't be vicarious. If an empire is going to be violent broadcast it. Instead we glorify fictional violence when really the action is in Tripoli while the pampered Western classes fill up their petroleum tanks in their vehicles of early 20th century technology. And the penny fails to drop because they aren't seeing.

Terence McKenna - Packing For A Long Strange Trip

I have a rule of thumb these days. If a person died prematurely and proselytized a compelling message of peace and human emancipation it's likely they were taken out for being dangerous to hierarchical control. This includes Lennon, McKenna and Bill Hicks.

Terence McKenna - Conversations At The Edge Of Magic

A good introduction to his work that challenges the flaws in the theory of evolution. His idea is equally tenuous but it does highlight the inexplicable gap that punctuated equilibrium (notice the odd terminology to explain an easy concept) tries to leap.

Treat Yourself To Terence

A previously unseen video interview with Terence McKenna just before he was diagnosed with brain cancer has surfaced. Terence is healthy, totally lucid and is interviewed by a person with just enough unfamiliarity of his work to explain to the newcomer his theories on time, compression, the I-Ching, novelty, entheogens, the eschaton, concrescence and much more.

Terence McKenna - Linear Societies & Non Linear Drugs

"When we seek to legitimize ourselves through an historical argument, we reach back to Shamanism and say we're part of something that's 100 000 years old and worldwide that touched the spirit long before the shadow of the cross fell across Jerusalem" - Terence McKenna after a snoot full of Tequila.

Alchemical Archives

Photobucket

If you enjoy recorded historical talks like rare Marshall McLuhan lectures, Buckminster Fuller, Krishnamurti or seldom found Terence McKenna there's a new blog called Alchemical Archive releasing some very fresh stuff with all the files available for download. It's only just started and there's close to 40 releases for August alone. Viva L'Internet.

Terence McKenna - The Jung Society

Recorded in 1991 at The Jung Society in Claremont, California, where he points out that Karl Jung and Albert Hoffman were both from Basel in Switzerland and the overlapping ideas they had.

Terence McKenna In The Mix

This is inspired by a radio show recorded in 1997 which features Terence McKenna being interviewed by Art Bell on Coast to Coast am. They discuss Terence's views on time, psychedelia and volcanoes. Dean Feeney has been obsessed with this recording for a number of years now and upon receiving John Roberts' Glass Eights LP recently, decided to record a mix whilst listening to the interview. The idea here was to focus on the interview as the centre piece and just mix records on the fly, allowing a sort of unconscious flow dictated by listening to the interview.

Terence McKenna - True Hallucinations

I've been doing a lot more reading recently and that included Terence McKenna's book True Hallucinations. I didn't find his writing as mesmerizing as his later speaking career though there are powerful insights into what exactly went on at La Chorrera in the Columbian Amazon. It's a tale worth exploring for the McKenna aficionado. I have an electronic copy if anybody wishes.

One passage I've displayed above stood out prominently for me as I was struck at the description for McKenna's new found talents for holding large groups transfixed with his extraordinary speaking genius. Reading the words I couldn't help but conclude that there is no better description for Terence's loquaciousness but as a channelled talent.

Usually channelling relies on some sort of automatic writing but in this case it appears to have manifested as vocal ability. A poignant thought given McKenna's obsession with glossolalia and visual language. I still love most of McKenna's work and I'm pretty sure that Freddy Mercury was channelling something when he wrote the prescient lyrics to Killer Queen or that David Bowie was channelling when writing Star Man and I enjoy listening to Barbera Marciniak's channelling or reading Ship of Songs. If fact it's possible that all creative work or revelation is channelled so I guess there's some sort of obligation on the part of all of us to determine like a bad TV channel (FOX/SKY news for example) which TV station needs to be switched off before it poisons the mind. Now I think of it much of the population is in a trance with sporting, news and reality TV channelling distractions. I might expand on that thought later. Here's McKenna reading from True Hallucinations.

The Only Evil With Mushrooms Is Not Taking Enough - Terence McKenna

I'm uploading some of the more obscure Terence McKenna talks I have to my Youtube account after conversion from MP3 to video files. The one above is McKenna talking to a small group and is simply prophetic if you're plugged in to some of the macro changes that the edges are now in full chatter-mode about.

By that I mean if you only soak in mainstream media including movies, news, press and radio, it's unlikely you'll grasp what is being said at all.

To overcome that it's crucial to consume information that makes you uncomfortable, that inverts your reality and tests your sanity. Either that or take sacred medicines like psilocybin mushrooms and don't dilly dally on the dose. It's five dried grammes or you're wasting your time.

The last alternative is 20 years of sweeping the ashram floor, or meditation and I'm afraid we don't have 20 years. Last train for that gig was back in the 90's. Nobody told me either.

Terence McKenna - Tryptamines, Hallucinogens & Conciousness

Another early Terence McKenna from 1982 that I haven't heard before. New material is always a treat for me so if anybody has any please send them and I'll be happy to upload to Youtube and share with a wider world. Terence memorably says in this recording that the search for aliens through radio telescopes such as SETI is as culturally bound as looking for a good Italian restaurant elsewhere in the galaxy.

He was ahead of this time but then he did have a hotline to the Logos so we'll share the praise on that one with the mushroom. Once again this early work is with smaller groups of listeners when being recorded and is somewhat more cerebral if that is possible.

Terence McKenna - New and Old Maps of Hyperspace

From 1982 and recently surfaced on the net is this second oldest recording of Terence McKenna.
