I never had much time for Charlie. He was a devout zionist who in recent weeks had no other choice but to mildly criticize israel for which he expressed fear at ostensibly biting the hand that had nurtured and fed him. That said the handful of clips I saw of him showed him to be a nice man though obviously misguided and now he's paid the ultimate price.

The choice to make an example of Charlie was made in order to prevent others from joining the ranks of critics.
