I can never quite square Hitchen's subsequent support for the NeoCons bombing of Iraq. I sometimes wonder if the intelligence spooks had something on him and press ganged his support. He wouldn't be the first. I also  think Tariq Ali's inability to call out 911 as an inside job is suspect. However it's worth listening to Hitch take the gloves off on a war criminal who still flies the globe while people like Julian Assange are seeking asylum.

It's hard to be 100% certain and indeed there may have been more than one reason for NATO's eagerness to bomb Libya through trumped up right to protect charges against citizens in Benghazi (who have subsequently gone on to desecrate war graves in protest at NATO).

In some ways it might be Gadaffi's silence that supports the most obvious claim that he was planning on refusing to accept worthless printed dollars from the US and worthless printed Euros from the EU and demand gold or a new pan African currency instead. One thing hard to ignore is the vindictiveness with which NATO powers sought revenge. The snuff movie of Gadaffi's final minutes is the greatest proof of this.
