Don't Cry For Me Argentina

Wild Tales - 2014

Wild Tales is laugh out loud funny. It's a compilation of six stories of Argentinian script writing that really bring the human experience to life. It was a pleasure to watch this kind of film making again and it reminded me of the more humorous scenes of some of Pedro Almodovar's movies.

The story about the guy who has his car removed by the city council is particularly pleasing.

Sean Penn Is Right. Only Meat Puppet Paratroopers Will Fight For The Malvinas

You and I don't get to share in the vast resources the Falklands are sitting on, we're the ones who get our hospitals, schools and libraries closed down. The Argentine owned oil that the Malvinas are sitting on will go to the city bankers, elite bloodlines and all the other military industrial complex govcorp toadies who want to send your sons to spill their blood for further elite wealth acquisition.

Surely only a meat puppet would fight to fill the pockets of these wankers? That's all Sean Penn is trying to point out to the jingoistic chauvinist flash mob assembling around the topic.

What about the islanders? Ticket back or change of passport.

Change is the only constant. Enough killing and being killed on behalf of the elites with their hands on the printing presses. Let them go instead and do the fighting. Ordinary people need to walk away from this one.

Matias De Stefano - Indigo Child

I enjoy listening to young people like this. He's only 22 or something and he wrapped up the meaning of life more neatly than anything I've ever come up with, and my efforts aren't bad I've been told on occasions.

So much of this interview which is in Spanish with subtitles (remember to click that CC button below if there's no subtitles) is consistent with a wide range of topics I'm following  yet I felt greater clarity after listening. Often I listen to people on these meta materialist subjects and I'm burdened with new information that I have to leave floating non judgementally till a feeling emerges as to its veracity. That wasn't the case here.

I can't remember which blog I saw it on but let me know if you want a credit.

"The good news is we're running out of oil. The bad news is there's a lot of coal" - Yvon Chouinard

The mountains above are in Patagonia, Argentina and the picture was uploaded last Saturday from Argentina. I do think immediacy isn't everything but in this case it is. You can almost smell the mountain air unless VW Eos haven't branded it as theirs with advertising. Patagonia is the same name as the clothing label run by Yvon Chouinard who is the real deal when it comes to, we are what we do, and living an 'examined life'. I'd never heard of him before a few weeks ago but happen to stumble across a podcast on the often slightly worthy Social Innovation Conversations. Around about the 38th minute into the podcast he says everything you need to know about putting sustainability back into the wealth creation business model with simple but brilliant marketing values. In this case its for an oil company but it applies to all business. This audience with Yves is the sort of podcast I recommend for a Sunday while prepping the vegetables for the Sunday roast. and getting a good pot of tea on the go. It doesn't need full on attention and its not a blow away grab you by the nuts Mr Motivator podcast. Instead its a conversation that to paraphrase the robust words of Paul Coleman gives "just a continuous unshakable feeling" that this guy knows how to make money, do the right thing, treat people right, sell responsible products and live an examined life. Its fun, interesting and I can't recommend it enough.
