CIA Insider Ray McGovern on The Politics Of Telling Hard Truths

Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern spills the beans on the drift of a CIA that no longer knows what the truth, is let alone how to say it. It's important to remember that the CIA had no prior knowledge of the collapse of the Soviet Union as it's in their interest like the Pentagon to be in a perpetual state of conflict.

By this metric the CIA is just another government parasite with its snout in the security pork barrel.

Ray points out the CIA is so politicized it can't remember what telling hard truths is about and saves particular venom for spineless George Tenet who along with Colin Powell could have averted a needless war with Iraq though as he points out, it's unlikely that it ever even occurred to them. That's what happens when the system promotes people who say what people want to hear instead of what people need to hear.

Interesting to learn that Gates was one of the most voted against CIA director appointments ever.
